The advisory meeting was hold
At 15pm on 10th December 2009 there was hold the advisory meeting under the topic ‘Issues of implementing the Mortgage Law’ by MBA with the lawyers and experts of risk management departments of member banks.Representatives of the State Center for Civil Registration and Information, the State High Court, the Court of Sukhbaatar district were also attended the meeting, introduced the new law and answered the questions. The decision was made to establish the joint working group to renew and change the contract model, that was used by commersial banks, according to the new approved Mortgage law. |

A visit was paid to Japan and meeting was hold with the Japan Banking Association
Mr.B.Medree, the President of Mongolian Bankers Association, Mr.Z.Shardarsuren, the General Secretary of Mongolian Bankers Association was paid a visit to Japan to introduce and receive the experience from the Japan Banking Association activities. During the visit the following 3 issues were discussed and the information were exchanged with the management of the Japan Banking Association:
1. Structure and activities of banking association of both countries
2. Activities of the credit information fund
3. Japanese exprience of developing internet banking system
During the visit there were also introduced with the activities of NTT Data Corporation and Fujitsu company and hold a meeting with the management of above companies. There were discussed a possibility of introducing of Japanese technology into the card payment and payment between Mongolian banks. |

The joint meeting of MBA, commercial banks and Mongolian National Construction Association was hold
At 11pm on 27th July 2009 at the conference hall of MBA was hold joint meeting of representatives of MBA, commercial banks and Mongolian National Construction Association. The following issues were duscussed during the meeting: regulate the issues of financial and economice crisis, caused by the building and construction sector of Mongolia in the frame of the Government of Mongolia, organize a meeting with MRTCUD, Mongol Bank, MF to discuss the issues of unfinished buildings, establish joint working group of the Government of Mongolia, MRTCUD, MBA, MNCA in the near future, speed up the implementation of the mortgage law, develop the ability of bond payment, assured by the immovable assets, look for a possibility of the Government to buy bad loan, and its interest of commercial banks on certain time. |

The meeting was hold with Mr.N.Altankhuyag, the First Deputy Premier of Mongolia
On 7th July 2009 Mr.N.Altankhuyag, the First Deputy Premier of Mongolia, heads of the State Center for Civil Registration and Information, met the management of MBA and commercial banks and exchanged the views. Mr.N.Altankhuyag, the First Deputy Premier of Mongolia discussed the issues, that can be solved by him and other government agencies under his management. The main object of this meeting were make some changes into the banking law, approve the regulation to solve the issues regarding daily activities of banks, problems caused to the customers, decrease the double expediture, of falsely made documents issued by the registration center and losings to banks used these falsely made documents. The decision was made to establish the joint working group to solve the above mentioned issues. |

The meeting was hold with the Chairman of the Parliament
On 3rd June 2009 Mr.D.Demberel, the Chairman of the Parliament met the management of MBA and representatives of commercial banks. Enhance the banking laws and regulations was the main object of the meeting. Particularly, they duscussed the following issues, rapid approval of the mortgage law, add some changes into the banking law, the decision was made to allocate some assets from the risk fund of development fund of Mongolia into the commercial banks, but this process hasn’t been implemented rapidly, share between all banks the common ATM and POST cash machines. Mr.T.Purevdorj, the President of MongolBank, attended the meeting and informed the activities of MongolBank. The Chairman of the Parliament promised to improve policies towards the commercial banks and promote activities of the commercial banks and asked the representatives of commercial banks to update him with new information regularly. |

Lawyers Club founded at the MBA
Lawyers Club has been founded by the meeting of banking lawyers held on March 19, 2009 at the Mongolian Bankers Association and the legal advisor of the executive director’s office of Zoosbank Mr. Ch.Zorigtbaatar was elected as its chair. Senior lawyer of Xacbank D.Amarbayasgalan and senior lawyer of Chinggiskhaan bank S.Bat-Ulzii have been elected as its working group members. A draft of the working procedure of the Club and its action plan shall be prepared by the newly formed working group and after taking the opinion of all lawyers, presented to the next meeting for approval. The banking lawyers put as their objectives many tasks such as cooperation in protecting the commercial banks against legal risks, exchanging information and experience, preparation of proposals and comments on amendments and changes to be made to the banking and finance laws, to be achieved through the activities of the Lawyers Club. It was estimated that about 84 lawyers work with the commercial banks altogether |

Representatives of the MBA and its member commercial banks met with the Minister of Justice and Home Affairs Ts.Nyamdorj
Justice and Home Affairs Minister Ts.Nyamdorj met yesterday with the representatives of 15 banks and 2 non-bank financial institutions who are members of the MBA. During the meeting were discussed such issues as legal and judicial problems, which are faced by the banks and non-bank financial institutions of Mongolia, and methods and ways of their solutions. There were two main directions for cooperation of the MBA with the MOJHA and the MBA members pointed out their readiness for cooperation to further develop the legal framework for banks and non-bank financial institutions as well as to renew the regulatory acts and guidelines, which are currently issued and implemented by government agencies. At the conclusion of the meeting Minister Ts.Nyamdorj said that it should be considered what to do with the law currently in effect. He further confirmedthe existence of some doubtful stipulations and gave directions to related officials to build a joint working group on the above issues.to . Mongolian Bankers Association has a new Secretary General.
Mr. G.Tserenpurev of the Mongolian Bankers Association has transferred his duties to Mr. Shagdarsuren Zuunai. The newly appointed Secretary General Shagdarsuren Zuunai has graduated from universities of Japan and USA, and worked with the Mongolbank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Mr. G.Tserenpurev has worked as the Secretary General of the Mongolian Bankers Association for 3 years and 10 months. He and the members of the managing board of the MBA attended the meeting of his administrative report held at the head office of the MBA on 04 February 2009. During his reporting period the MBA had got own premises with modern interior design and equipment for organization of trainings and workshops, become a member of the Asian Bankers Association, developed its foreign relationship signing memorandum of mutual understanding with the ABA, Bankers Association of Taiwan and Bankers Association of Cooperatives of Federal Republic of Germany. In addition, he performed many works such as regular publication of the information periodical of the MBA in order to disseminate information to the banking and financial sector, selection of the best officers of the banking industry of Mongolia, organization of educational trainings, delivery of proposals on related legislations for improvement of legal environment of the banking and financial sector of Mongolia reflecting opinion of the commercial banks therein to the state and governmental bodies etc. |

Governor of the Bank of Mongolia met the management of the commercial banks.
The MBA jointly with the management of the commercial banks presented and officially handed over their proposal with 16 points for tasks to be performed further in the financial sector of Mongolia to the Governor of the Bank of Mongolia L.Purevdorj at the MBA on 19 January. The above 16 proposals have been introduced at the meeting after the management of the commercial banks meeting and grouping their proposals and measures to be taken last week. The new Governor of the Bank of Mongolia said that he will meet with them again after seriously studying their proposals together with his staff. The meeting was attended by the CEOs of the commercial banks, the First Deputy Governor B.Enkhkhuyag and the Deputy Governor D.Enkhjargal and the heads of departments of the Bank of Mongolia and representatives of mass media. |

Congratulations to the new Governor of the Bank of Mongolia
The CEOs of the commercial banks M.Bold (Executive director of Xac bank), B.Medree (CEO of Trade and Development Bank, President of MBA), D.Oyunjargal (Executive director of Mongol Post Bank) and G.Tserenpurev (Secretary General of MBA) met and congratulated the newly appointed Governor of the Bank of Mongolia and wished success in his further job and expressed their readiness to cooperate with him on a regular basis. An appointment of the new Governor of the Bank of Mongolia with the CEOs of commercial banks at the MBA in the near future has been set as well. Agenda of the meeting should include current problematic issues. |
